Child Obesity and How to Prevent Them

child obesityOver the past two decades, child obesity is increasing in the USA at an alarming rate. Doctors and scientists are deeply concerned about it and so should you! First, let’s try to figure out what’s associated problem with child obesity.

There are consequences for childhood obesity related to your kid’s health. An obese child is at the high risk of having a weight-related problem in the adulthood. Also, most of the convertible baby cribs have a weight limit of 50 pounds and an obese child gonna outweighs it quickly.

The most common type of health trouble an obese child may face are:

  1. Due to high cholesterol and/or high blood pressure, your kid may have heart disease.

From the survey as you can see, obese children are more likely to have cardiovascular disease.

How To Prevent Childhood Obesity?

By this time you have already know that childhood obesity is a problem that needs your attention. The good news is that it’s not an out of control problem and you don’t have to go through an expensive and complex process. A couple of routine maintenance should do the job for you.

Change Eating Habits

Make your child eating more veggies. Avoid all types of calorie based foods, fast foods, and soft drinks. Eating a lot of fruits and whole grain products can ultimately lead to weight loss of your baby and help to achieve a healthy life.

Make Him/Her Active

Take your baby to outdoor. Make him/her play sports. Engaging in sports can help to have a healthy lifestyle. Also, make sure your baby spends quality time with his/her friends. This will also help to get socially active and achieve more self-esteem. Always keep him active. Help him to grow a habit of organizing his toddler bed always.

Another weird but very likely reason for child obesity is extra sleeping. Kids who sleep more than what is normal soon become lazy. As mentioned earlier, child obesity is very common to lazy kids. So as a parent, you need to make sure your kid does not sleep extra time. How can you ensure that?

Very simple.

Set up an alarm clock! Make sure your kid gets up early in the morning. You may also consider replacing the soft-surfaced innerspring toddler mattress. It tends to make the bed comfortable, so getting up takes so long. Get the baby mattress which has hard surfaced so that your kid does not find it too difficult to leave the bed early in the morning.

Besides, a toddler mattress with hard surface helps to grow his/her physical and mental health properly.
